Parijat

Real Name:

Bishnu Kumari Waiba

Famous works: Sirish Ko Phul, Mahatwohin etc.

Introduction
From the banks of the Bishnumati river there flowered a flower so beautiful that she was able to provide courage to the still socially oppressed women of Nepal. Bishnu Kumari Waiba better known as Parijat is among the few women in the Nepalese literary field. She was a woman of astounding will power and patience. Although paralyzed both physically and economically she dared to venture into a virtually male dominated society and even had the courage to fight against it. Her paralysis had weakened her so much that she had to be looked after by her sister all her life, as she never married. In her works she has analyzed and portrayed women's sexual psychology as well as fought against the social injustice done to women during those days.
