Swayambhu, a buddhist shrine set on a hillock, west of Kathmandu City. It is reputedly the oldest settlement in the Kathmandu valley surrounded by several smaller shrines and temples.

The famous crystal hall of Seto Durbar built by Prime Minister Bir Shamsher Rana in 1893. The crystal was supplied by F & C Osler from England. The palace along with this magnificent crystal hall was destroyed in the fire in 1933.
